Shrimp Curry/Prawns Curry

Shrimp is one of our family favorite seafood’s because of its taste and it cooks really fast. Whenever you are planning to cook any shrimp recipe. All you need to do is.Open the freezer, take out some shrimp from the pack. Defrost them and they will be ready by the time you put other ingredients together(here in US)taste will always be better if made with fresh shrimp.
Shrimp Curry
Prep time 15 minutes
Cook time:30 minutes
Serves 4

Ingredients: 
½ kg shrimp (approx 1lb)(washed with limejuice and drained)
3 large onions finely chopped
3-4 green chilies
1 and ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp dry coconut powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
Cilantro chopped
1 tsp lime juice
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil for cooking

Method:
1.In a large skillet over medium heat. Heat oil. Add green chilies, half of the garam masala powder and onion. Stirring occasionally, cook until golden. Takes about 15-20 minutes.
2.Add ginger garlic paste. Cook for a minute till raw smell goes away. Add turmeric powder and after few seconds add shrimp. Fry for 3-4 minutes. Do not add any water to this.
3.Now add salt,red chili powder,coriander powder and coconut powder.Cook for few minutes on very low flame.
4.Add left over garam masala and a few drops of lime juice. Immediately sprinkle some coriander leaves and turn off the heat.
5.Serve hot with rice or rotis.

 
Variation:

1.For better taste clean the shrimp. Marinate with a mixture of lime juice ,turmeric and a little salt.
2.You can add some tamarind paste(very little) to this curry before adding dry masalas.

Note: 
Do not over cook shrimp.
Frozen Shrimp that has not been cooked and de veined will have better flavor.
